Evangelos Garbis – Chief Instructor and Close Quarter
Evangelos has many years of combative martial arts experience through which he has developed a tremendous passion for sharing what he has learned. His combative arts training began at the age of 8, when his parents enrolled him in Judo, due to the fact that he was bullied in school, something that is still common today.
At the age of 17 he served in the military service in Athens, Greece, until being honorably discharged. Evangelos then moved to the United States of America, where he was introduced to Mr. James Hageman, a fourth degree Black Belt in Hakkoryu Ju-Jitsu and a retired United States Secret Service Agent. Mr. Hageman shared his extensive experience in dealing with aggression both mentally and physically, and Evangelos credits the foundation of his teaching skills to the life lessons learned while studying with Mr. Hageman.
Through the years Evangelos enriched his hot weapons, tactical knife, tactical shooting, tactical rappelling, and close quarter combat skills by training with some of the most currently recognized tactical trainers in the industry. He has been a featured instructor for the Sark Security Group at several specialized courses at Fort Bragg, where he has gained a growing no-nonsense, to the point reputation among soldiers and para troopers alike.
Evangelos has traveled globally instructing civilians as well as Special Operating Units preparing for overseas deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in close quarter tactics. He has also had the privilege of training employees of the United States Presidential Guard, N.Y.P.D. Tactical Training Unit, United States Coast Guard Tactical Unit, FBI, DEA, and many SWAT team members within the United States.
